Possessor of a rich honeyed voice, songwriter and guitarist Eric Bibb has a career spanning over five decades. As befits a musician growing up amongst folk and blues royalty – son of one of the leading voices in 1960s New York folk scene, Godson of activist-singer Paul Robeson – he has absorbed the classics from twentieth century America. But he’s also added to them, crafting a compelling catalogue of songs that draw on a wide range of influences and issues. He says of his most recent album Jericho Road ‘it combines all of our pet sounds: classic soul, gospel, world music flavours’. The Blues has never sounded so uplifting, inspirational and contemporary.
