ERIC BIBB ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM 'ONE MISSISSIPPI' & RELEASES LEAD TRACK 'THIS ONE DON'T'

October 10, 2025. Three-time Grammy-nominated blues icon Eric Bibb has announced details of his new album One Mississippi, arriving worldwide on January 30th, 2026 via Repute Records.

The lead track “This One Don’t” is available now, listen here / watch the video here. Eric says "The song was inspired by a wonderful gig at a Blues Fever festival in Vienna, where I played in front of a groovy crowd who loves dancing to the Blues. Happily, we were able to include these folks in the video. Thanks to my ace producer, Glen Scott and the superb musicians involved, this track is one of the funkiest I’ve ever recorded. As Alice Walker once said: ”Hard times require furious dancing.""

One Mississippi continues Eric Bibb’s late-career renaissance with the most musically adventurous and ambitious album of his long and storied career. The album contains thirteen original songs written by Bibb or co-written with his Grammy-nominated producer Glen Scott, plus a cover of “One Mississippi”, written by iconic singer-songwriter Janis Ian - whom Bibb has known since they were at high school together in New York in the ’60s -  and Fred Koller.

This new collection of stories, from a not-too-distant American past and a tense global present, is a call for peace, justice & unity in a divided world,” says Bibb of the album. “As much as I love writing & recording new songs, I also enjoy discovering & covering great songs by other songwriters. The title song, “One Mississippi”, was written by my high school friend, Janis Ian with Fred Koller.

The album was recorded and mixed at Glen Scott’s own high-end studio in Uppsala, Sweden, and features a stellar cast of musicians including UK based guitar virtuoso Robbie McIntosh (Paul McCartney, John Mayer), whose expressive playing & skill adds depth, grit, and melodic commentary to Eric Bibb’s signature storytelling. One Mississippi also features Greger Andersson & Paul Jones (Harmonica), Shaneeka Simon & Sara Bergkvist Scott (Backing Vocals), Zosha Warpeha & Esbjörn Hazelius (Fiddle), Staffan Astner (Guitar), and Sven Lindvall (Tuba). “A thousand thanks to the fabulous singers, players and behind-the-scenes team members, for helping us tell the tale,” enthuses Bibb.

One Mississippi follows an extraordinary period of prolific output and critical recognition for Eric Bibb. His 2023 album Ridin’ earned a 2024 Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album and was celebrated by critics as “a bluesy, folky delight... packed with melodic jams and steeped in oak casks for decades.” Prior to that, Bibb released Dear America (2021), which was nominated for Blues Music Awards and recognized as “Album of the Year” by several leading roots publications.

His most recent album, In the Real World (2024), recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and again produced by Glen Scott, met with similar acclaim, with Americana Highways praising Bibb’s “modern-day freshness” and “endless ingredients,” while Americana UK wrote: “a legendary figure of the blues, not content to rest on his reputation, but still exploring and growing.” As Bibb himself reflects, the album is “a vivid representation of my musical and personal evolution.

One Mississippi breaks new ground for Eric Bibb, whose artistry has earned him three Grammy nominations and a place among the most respected voices in modern roots music. With a unique blend of classic blues, contemporary soul, and Americana, the album has crossover appeal to reach beyond his existing audience.
